Workshop

Community members 15 years of age and older

Participants will understand the importance of being suicide alert. They will leave understanding the steps to engage people at risk of suicide and connect them with community resources that can provide an intervention.

safeTALK is a three-hour training that prepares people to identify persons with thoughts of suicide, and to address them with the TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen, Keep-Safe), connecting callers to suicide first aid, and intervention caregivers.

Community members 16 years of age and older

Participants will become trained to perform non-physical, full scale suicide prevention interventions for those at risk of suicide.

The Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop is a two-day workshop for caregivers who want to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide.

Participants will understand key areas to suicide postvention including the creation of a response plan to suicide, safe messaging, community resource identification, and much more.

The Connect Suicide Postvention program is a one-day training that increases the capacity of a community or organization to respond effectively to a suicide death in order to prevent additional suicides and promote healing for survivors of suicide loss. The shock and grief of a suicide goes well beyond immediate family and friends and can ripple throughout the community affecting friends, co-workers, schools and faith communities.

Participants will leave with the knowledge to utilize the Suicide Prevention Toolkit which includes assessment guidelines, safety plans, sample protocols, and much more

The Toolkit was developed by the Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC) and the Western Interstate Commission of Higher Education (WICHE) Mental Health Program. It contains tools, information, and resources to carry out suicide prevention practices and overcome barriers to treating suicidal patients in the primary care setting.

Alcohol beverage servers and sellers

Participants will leave with the skills to prevent underage drinking among youth and binge drinking among adults by learning proper service/sale protocols.

The Responsible Beverage Service training is a four hour program that aims to reduce alcohol related problems by educating business establishments on the proper service and sales of alcohol. It is designed to educate owners, managers, servers and sellers of alcohol establishments about strategies to avoid illegally selling alcohol to underage youth and intoxicated customers.

It offers core knowledge modules that begin the lifelong process of educating the profession about substance abuse prevention.

The SAPST curriculum is designed to provide both pre-service and in-service prevention professionals with up-to-date, evidence-based information to the prevention field.  The curriculum is divided into eight separate sections.  Each section functions as an independent building block that orients new professionals to the field of prevention.  This curriculum is not designed to answer every prevention question or to provide an exhaustive overview of the field.  Instead, it offers core knowledge modules that begin the lifelong process of educating the profession about substance abuse prevention.

But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems: at work, in your personal relationship and overall quality of your life.  It can make you feel as though you’re at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion.

To learn skills and knowledge in  delivering basic interventions for tobacco use cessation to tobacco users.

The Basic Tobacco Intervention Skills Certification Program, sponsored by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Tobacco Education and Prevention Program, will be used to train professionals and lay community members interested in delivering basic interventions for tobacco use cessation and to tobacco users.  The Basic Tobacco Intervention Skills Certification Program has been extensively tested and implemented across the state of Arizona.  The program has been adapted for Guam.

This programme, considered the worldwide standard for crisis prevention and intervention training, can help your organization:

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training

Supervisors

At the end of this training, supervisors should understand the difference component of the Drug-Free Workplace Policy and their role in implementing the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.

After developing a drug-free workplace policy statement, your organization should train those individuals closest to the workforce-supervisors.  Training supervisors is an integral part of every drug-free workplace program.  Supervisors should be provided with basic information about your drug-free workplace program and their role in its implementation.

Employees

At the end of this training, employees should be familiar with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy and aware of the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse.  Employees should understand:

- the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace policy;

- the prevalence of alcohol and drug abuse and its impact on the workplace;

- How to recognize the link between poor performance and alcohol and/or drug abuse;

-the progression of the disease of alcohol and drug addiction;

- what types of assistance may be available.

Sends a clear message that use of alcohol and drugs in the workplace is prohibited and encourages employees who have problems with alcohol and other drugs to voluntarily seek help.
